Recap:
It was a tumultuous week last week and I'm glad it is over! Between all of the time out of class, the death of our Great Horned Owls, and Anubis passing, I was an emotional wreck and so were most of the kids.
6th grade finished their unit on weather fronts and took a test and I am extremely disappointed in the results. I have decided that the maturity level is not in place, even though they are honor's students so I will go back to a more traditional approach to teaching with fewer at home "on your own"assignments and begin using the textbook more. Please check your child's portal for their grades.
7th grade began taking FCA #2 and did very well. We concluded unit on cell organelles and will endeavor to work a lab on vaccines and how your body recognizes and targets invaders. We will also have a demonstration of cell tonicity.
8th grade is behind. I had a UF workshop on the Zika Virus that was beneficial but had to leave the classes with a video instead of the planned lab on the Thickness of a BB pancake. Despite having another field trip this week, we will try to get caught up and back on track.
Brain bender:
Can you translate the following into a sentence?

Agenda:
(This should be written in your planner every day)
7th grade- 1st period- Intro to lab then cell tonicity. Period 2 FCA #2
6th grade- Begin reading Chapter 12 in Textbook wth table partner. Using Pair share and Cornell Notes. Be prepared to do section 1 questions in class.
8th grade- Go over questions from Prelab
The Atom- Read the chapter and take notes! If you have questions, write them down!
Read the Pre-lab "The Thickness of a BB pancake"
6th Grade Honor's Earth Space Science:
6th Grade Class Information and Syllabus
Weather and Atmosphere:
Unit Essential Question: How do the relationships among the five spheres affect life on Earth
How do the relationships among the five spheres affect life on Earth?
Key Learning Statement: The atmosphere is layered and within these layers are weather patterns that affect life and are caused by interactions among spheres. Water is constantly being recycled through the spheres. Heat transfer affects the development of weather.
