Recap:
6th graders finally got to go outside and do the data collection part of their experiment on solar radiation and will continue to the implementation phase today. I want to remind ALL 6th graders that you were assigned IXL as NIGHTLY homework. It is MANDATORY if you received a D or an F on your progress report.
7th graders finished up the blood serum tests on their bacterial samples and will finish up their labs today in preparation of our test over the cell and cell membrane. 8th graders continued to have their minds blown over quantum theory. They met the entire cast of the Atomic Theory. During the process they learned about Democritus and his model of the atom which was adopted by John Dalton and turned into his model. They also met Antoine Lavoisier and learned how he came up with the Law of Conservation of Mass which states Matter cannot be created or destroyed, but can be changed from one form to another. We then moved on to JJ Thompson, Earnest Rutherford, Neils Bohr
Brain Bender:
Two identical tanks are being drained at the same time. One of the tanks has one- two-centimeter circular drain outlet and the other has two- one-centimeter circular drain outlets. Will one of the tanks empty faster than the other? Explain your logic?
Agenda:
(This should be written in your planner every day)
7th grade- Lab Pathogens, Antibodies, and Vaccines. Finish questions and turn in
6th grade- Solar Input, a Limit To Growth Part 2
8th grade- The Periodic Table advanced and last part of
History of Atomic Theory Notes Finsh notes then FCA #2
Using The Atom- video Electron placement.
Ever wonder what all those elements are used for?

Weather and Atmosphere:
Unit Essential Question: How do the relationships among the five spheres affect life on Earth
How do the relationships among the five spheres affect life on Earth?
Key Learning Statement: The atmosphere is layered and within these layers are weather patterns that affect life and are caused by interactions among spheres. Water is constantly being recycled through the spheres. Heat transfer affects the development of weather.

Cell Structure and Function
Unit Essential Question: How has technology enhanced our understanding of cells?
Key Learning Statement: As microscope technology advances, scientists understanding of cells is changing. Scientists continue to grow in their understanding of how a cell's structure and function are related to help maintain homeostasis.

Properties of Matter
Unit Essential Question: What determines the properties of matter?
Key Learning Statement: The atom is the basic unit of matter. The structure, motion, arrangement and energy of the atom determine the properties of matter.
