January 22nd & 23rd, 2018

Today's Quote:

RECAP:
I gave a quiz in all classes over the materials I had covered the previous class and the scores were not good. Therefore, let me ask again, what are you bringing to the table? Any student who scored less than a 70 percent will get their parent signature on their quiz and turn it in next class period.

Intensive Reading- We started by opening the new writing prompt: Is Change Something to be Feared or Embraced. For homework students were to read the two documents I provided on the writing prompts page of their notebook. Shut the Door. A Speech by Senator Ellison DuRant Smith and Fear of Change by Henery Ford. Students were told to only READ the articles. We will work on them in class. If students used the electronic version they can access the reader, and writing tools I added. Again, many students wanted paper copies.

Parents, OneNote has a parent link as well. If you want to know if your child is doing their work, email me, and I will give you your link. To reiterate, in my class, students will have homework 2 to 3 nights each week. If you are not seeing them do homework, then they are not doing well in my class. For this week, students are being graded on the pages we create in OneNote as practice use of the tools and activities.

Intensive reading classes are shifting this week!

Students who correct ALL the mistakes on their returned papers will receive 10 points more. Make your corrections on a separate piece of paper and staple it to the actual paper, turn it in. Example: If you scored a 60 on an assignment and you correct ALL of the mistakes, I will add 10 points to make it a 70.

Entry Task/ Brain Bender:

If it takes six men, six days, to dig 6 holes, how long will it take one man to dig half a hole?
