Recap:

We've hit our first snag, but I know students will overcome this; many have not adapted to a flipped classroom strategy and it's imperative they do so quickly. To review, my class is a flipped class. This means student absolutely MUST do the readings and PowerPoint at home so that in class, we can have a hands on experience. Students frequently complain that their classes are boring because all they do is take notes and listen. I don't want our class to become that, however, YOU determine the course of the class. If you don't follow through on YOUR responsibilities of being an engaged learner, I will have to fall back on strategies that work, but may not be the best. Here is a video clip to model what YOU need to do in a flipped classroom.

Students should review the lab safety rap video again.

Students were provided this brief video clip of how to apply Bayes Rule to scientific decision making. We will have a PowerPoint lesson on this today. Homework is ongoing. Students  need to finish reading the website and taking notes for our discussions through the end of the week.  Probabilistic Fallacies and Bayes Rule.  If you are having difficulty with understanding, Watch this video:
An Introduction to Byes Theorem

Students were also given the join codes for my class resources. I gave them 5 minutes to create their accounts but many did not. Please do this from home. You will be required to use these sites in class and at home.

I reiterated that I can work with anyone willing to work themselves. I am available from 6:15 am to 8:20am Monday through Friday. I also have office hours from 12:45pm- 1:45pm. I can make myself available some days after school from 3:40pm- 4:00pm. You will need to let me know in advance as I schedule appointments after school. When soccer season begins,, I will not be available after school.

Students MUST have their composition notebooks by Monday. I have given you two weeks to get them.

I provided a background video that explains as review what was learned in Earth Space and Physical science. If you didn't remember this, please review how the Earth formed and how life got started.

Students made their secondary observations in the Fortune Telling Fish lab. We will finish this today.
