Thursday and Friday November 12th & 13th, 2015

Today's Quote:

Recap:

Yesterday we went over grades and I reminded all classes ALL science fair projects are due TODAY!

In 8th grade honors classes I attempted to clarify the fact that  the Transition elements follow a "sort of "pattern when filling their valences. The take away from the entire discussion is the new model of the atom no longer uses shells but instead, orbitals. We broke the periodic table down into those four orbitals, S, P, D, and F. I pointed out that, for the most art, the group numbers of 3-12 represent the number of electrons that can usually be found int he valence. I also taught them how to read an orbital configuration.

7th grade honors continued working on the Active vs Passive transport worksheet as I ran through our Power point. We will finish this up today with a demonstration of isotonic, hypotonic and hypertonic solutions and their effect on the cell.

Brain Bender:

Shadow discovered Sandy lying on her side in a puddle of water and broken glass. When the doctor arrived he pronounced her dead. Since Sandy had no cuts on her, how did she die?
