Today's Quote:

Recap:

Our 6th graders tried to go outside and begin our lab, but with only 20 minutes on a half day, it was impossible. Instead, we debriefed FCA#2. The results showed a clear dividing line between those who are studying and those who are not.7th grade began notes over osmosis, diffusion and cell tonicity which we will finish today and then complete our lab. 8th grade worked on notes over the atomic theory and began the advanced discussion of the periodic table in preparation for part two of our lab on measuring the invisible. 6th period was put on notice that their poor behavior will no longer be tolerated. When even the class members are complaining, it's time for me to step in. Check your own behavior or I will remove you from this class!

Brain Bender:

Four men sat down to play, they played all night till the break of day. They played for gold and not for fun, with separate scores for everyone. When they came to square accounts, They all had made quite fair amounts. Can you, the paradox explain, If no one lost, how could all gain?

Agenda:

(This should be written in your planner every day)

All grade levels should have completed quizlet by today!

7th grade-  Lab  Pathogens, Antibodies, and Vaccines.   Part II. For this part of the lab groups will double up.

Diffusion, osmosis and transport

6th grade-  Solar Input, a Limit To Growth of FCA 2 depending on the weather

8th grade-   The Periodic Table advanced and last part of

Ever wonder what all those elements are used for?

6th Grade Honor's Earth Space Science:

6th Grade Class Information and Syllabus

Weather and Atmosphere:
Unit Essential Question: How do the relationships among the five spheres affect life on Earth
How do the relationships among the five spheres affect life on Earth?
Key Learning Statement: The atmosphere is layered and within these layers are weather patterns that affect life and are caused by interactions among spheres. Water is constantly being recycled through the spheres.  Heat transfer affects the development of weather.

Homework:

7th Grade Honors Life Science

7th Grade Class Information and Syllabus

Cell Structure and Function
Unit Essential Question: How has technology enhanced our understanding of cells?

Key Learning Statement: As microscope technology advances, scientists understanding of cells is changing. Scientists continue to grow in their understanding of how a cell's structure and function are related to help maintain homeostasis.

Homework:

Finish the Cell tonicity worksheet- due Monday

8th Grade Honors Physical Science

8th Grade Class Information and Syllabus

Properties of Matter
Unit Essential Question: What determines the properties of matter?
Key Learning Statement: The atom is the basic unit of matter.  The structure, motion, arrangement and energy of the atom determine the properties of matter.

Homework:
